Frequently Asked Questions about our Heritage Falls Soy Candles
Why does my soy candle look frosty? Is it drying out?
No, your candle is not drying out. Frosting is a natural characteristic of soy, and is part of the soy experience! It is not a flaw, and it is strictly unique to pure soy candles. Often times it is called the "bloom." Frosting does NOT affect the scent throw or the burning properties of the candle. The soft, creamy nature of soybean wax may produce "blooms" (shifts in color or a whitening effect) more often in deep, dark candle colors. Many consumers of "nature based" products often appreciate this effect as an identifier of candles made with 100% soy, rather than a wax blend made with paraffin or other synthetic materials. If purity and a clean candle burn matter to you, look for the bloom! You can safely burn a candle with a bloom without worry. Frosting is a particular crystal growth of vegetable oils. It will cause the candle to look dry, which is simply a characteristic of that crystal structure, but has nothing to do with the candle "drying out".
To minimize frosting, try to keep your candle out of direct sunlight and fluorescent lighting. Even changes in the weather, altitude, and humidity can cause additional frosting. It is almost impossible to stop the soy wax from blooming. It's just one of the beautiful and natural features of this wonderful wax.

Burn Times:
Pint Country Jar - 120 hours*
Half Pint Country Jar - 70 hours*
Mini Quilt Jar - 30 hours*
*Approximate longevity when burned correctly.
Candle Tips & Burn Instructions:
First Burn—Allow pool of wax to extend to outside rim of jar to set it's "memory." Each time you burn the candle, it will "remember" to burn out to the rim. Rule of thumb: Burn one hour for every inch of your candle's diameter.
Keep wicks trimmed to 1/4" and centered.
Burn candles on a protective, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts.
Extinguish flame by dipping wick into the melted wax pool, then reposition. This will help eliminate smoking or "afterglow."
Store candles in an upright, level position in a dark and cool area. Do not store directly in bright light or leave in your vehicle.
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Never leave a burning candle unattended!
To extinguish flame: Simply dip your wick (with a fire-safe utensil or accessory) into the melted wax pool and back out again. That's it—no smoky residue or "afterglow"! Make sure your wick is centered for the next burn.
